Cosumables
- Inspect fuel tank, must be a 2-hour minimum
- Inspect lubircating oil
- Inspect engine coolant level
- Inspect engine, generator, fuel tank(s), and cooling system for leakage
- Inspect fuel transfer pump operations (if applicable)
- Inspect fuel filter for contamination if equipped with inspection bowl
Starter System
- Inspect electric starter for cleanliness, mounting, and terminal torque
- Inspect air tanks for pressure
- Inspect valves for leakage
- Test auxiliary engine and compressor for proper operation
- Bleed off any condensation
Batteries and charging equipment
- Inspect electric starter for cleanliness, mounting, and terminal torque
- Inspect all battery cells for correct electrolyte levels
- Test all batteries for correct specific gravity
- Inspect electrical connections for tightness and evidence of corrosion
- Inspect batteries for cleanliness and dryness between terminals
- Inspect charger electrical connections for cleanliness and tightness
- Test charger for proper operation of float and equalize modes
Engine
- Test lubricant and/or coolant heaters for proper operation
- Inspect governor control linkages and oil level
- Inspect fuel pump sump (if applicable)
- Inspect fan belts for correct tension and wear
Control Panel
- Inspect Control Panel covers for security
- Test annunciator lamps to confirm they are operational
- Inspect control panel settings, ensuring the unit if set to automatic start-up
- Test remote visual and audible trouble signals at the building fire alarm panel
Misc
- Inspect air control louver settings to ensure proper operation
- Test emergency lighting unit(s)
- Verify room temperature is above 10 degrees C
- Inspect generator and transfer switch rooms for cleanliness and accessibility to all components of the emergency system
- Correct all defficiencies found during inspection
- Record all inspections, tests, and corrective actions in the log
